Statement by Father Hans Zollner, S.J. regarding new consultant role in the Diocese of Rome

Oggi la Diocesi di Roma ha annunciato diverse nuove nomine, tra cui il mio ruolo come consulente per il neo istituito ufficio della Diocesi dedicato alla protezione dei minori e delle persone vulnerabili.
La creazione dell’ufficio all’interno della Diocesi di Roma, che rientra tra i numerosi cambiamenti chiave introdotti da Papa Francesco nella sua recente costituzione apostolica In Ecclesiarum Communione, è testimonianza del fatto che la tutela (safeguarding) deve essere una priorità per tutte le diocesi cattoliche del mondo.
Mi sono impegnato ad ascoltare i sopravvissuti e a promuovere l'educazione e la formazione nel campo del safeguarding, e non vedo l'ora di continuare a farlo in questo nuovo ruolo.
Spero che questo nuovo impegno con la diocesi di Roma, così come il mio ruolo come direttore dell'Istituto di Antropologia (IADC), favorisca la missione di rendere il mondo un luogo più sicuro per i bambini e le persone vulnerabili.

Statement by Father Hans Zollner, S.J.
Today, the Diocese of Rome announced several new appointments, including my role as consultant to the Diocese’s newly established office dedicated to the protection of minors and vulnerable persons.
The creation of the office within the Diocese of Rome, which is among several key changes introduced by Pope Francis in his recent apostolic constitution In Ecclesiarum Communione, is a testament to the fact that safeguarding must be a priority for all Catholic dioceses around the world.
I am committed to listening to survivors and to promoting education and formation in the field of safeguarding, and look forward to continuing to do so in this new role.
It is my hope that this new endeavor with the Diocese of Rome, as well as my continuing role as director of the Institute of Anthropology (IADC), will further the mission of making the world a safer place for children and vulnerable persons.
