Continuous Education of Young Priests in Croatia
A conference cycle on prevention and awareness of sexual abuse is continuing in the seminary in Đakovo, Croatia. This cycle, initiated in early November, is organized by Dr Josip Bošnjaković, professor of psychology at the Catholic Faculty of Theology in Đakovo, and Marina Šijaković, CCP Diploma Alumna.
On November 20th, Dr. Josip Bošnjaković gave a lecture called « Protection, dignity and abuse of children ». In addition, he sought to show everything that is being done by the Catholic Church to protect children, as well as what is being done in that regard in Croatia.
For her part, CCP Diploma Alumna Marina Šijaković spoke about the topic « Identifying signs of sexual abuse and prevention, who are the abusers and what are the features of perpetrators, what is 'The offending moment', 'grooming', what are preconditions for sexual abuse and what can we learn from mistakes in the past.» Also worthy of note, was the intervention of Tomislav Ramljak, president of the Centre for Missing and Exploited Children of Osijek.
After this conference, the young priests discussed recognizing different forms of exploitation of children, examining eight different examples, and giving possible solutions.
