Press release regarding the report by Westpfahl Spilker Wastl

ROME - The Safeguarding Institute of the Pontifical Gregorian University (IADC), is aware of the Westpfahl Spilker Wastl Report released in Germany earlier today, concerning the handling of abuse cases in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising, and is currently engaged in studying the details it contains.

The Institute recognizes and acknowledges the pain and anger that many may experience following the release of this report. For this reason, and at this time, the IADC reiterates its unconditional rejection of any and all attempts to cover up the scandal of abuse, and its call for accountability on the part of all those, regardless of the position they have held, who covered up cases of abuse; it confirms its commitment to safeguarding all vulnerable persons, children and adults alike; it fully endorses all efforts on the part of Church and civil authorities to seek the truth; and it reaffirms its unwavering support for victims seeking justice and healing for the abuse suffered, whether physical, mental or spiritual.

As an Institute of Anthropology dedicated to promoting the dignity and care of all vulnerable persons, the IADC continues to put its experience and resources at the service of those who need them most.
