357 million children are living in areas affected by war;
nearly 1 in 6 children experience starvation, maiming, violence, and war...
... and half of them live in the most dangerous areas of all to be a child ...
Those are just some of the horrific numbers and data provided by Save the Children's Report "The War on Children".
The report also lists six grave violations that children experience in such contexts: killing and maiming, recruitment and use of children, sexual violence, abduction, attacks on schools and hospitals, and denial of humanitarian access.
It is important to share such information in order to raise awareness about the terrible conditions in which so many children grow up. Awareness is a first step toward advancing concrete intervention.
