CCP Alumni '16-17: Fr. James Kannanthanam leads a Safeguarding Seminar in Philippines

(Quezon City, PHILIPPINES) CCP Alumni Fr. James Kannatham, graduate of the '16-17 dipolma course led an intensive two-weekend seminar this past February 1 & 2, 8 & 9. Roughly 120 people participated including students, school personnel, faculty members, and alumni, among them 18 religious sisters.

In addition to Philippinos, the participants included Vietnamese, Chinese, Myanmarese, Malaysians, Indonesians, Indians, Namibian, Ghanaian, and Germans.

The main organizer was the Institute of Formation and Religious Studies administration and staff and supported by the Inter-Intuitional Collaboration (IIC). Participants were also engaged in group sharing and discussion guided by some questions or cases.

The activity was part of the ongoing formation of the Institute’s students, especially those under the scholarship program and as personnel development activity.

The seminar was also opened to IFRS’ partners to have a wider audience since this issue concerning safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults is an important concern.

The participants are appreciative because they are now more aware about the issue and gained practical insights to respond the issue in their own contexts.
