The CCP’s Growing Spanish Accent

When it opened its doors in Rome in 2015, the Centre for Child Protection was simultaneously launched in five languages: English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. German was initially the strongest language because the CCP’s three-year pilot phase (January 2012 - December 2014) had been conducted in Munich. Soon English became the procedural language of the Rome office. Even so, all other languages have been just as welcome as the growing multilingual staff who could converse in them. From its beginnings until now, the E-Learning programme continues to steadily develop in the five founding languages, and plans are in place with translators to add other possibilities, such as Portuguese.

Who knew that in two years’ time, approximately 40% of the groups served by the CCP would be signed up to use the E-learning platform in Spanish! The other language groups are strongly represented, but quite outnumbered. Groups in Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Bolivia, Colombia, Guatemala, Spain and Peru have shown great interest and enthusiasm in adopting the CCP’s blended-learning method.
