IADC co-organized the 1st forum on child protection and sustainable tourism
Rome, Italy
The Institute of Anthropology (IADC) researches and focuses on the issues of dignity and care in an intercultural and interdisciplinary way, basing its approach on an anthropological view of human life. This is the reason why we promote events on safeguarding in different sectors on the society.
In collaboration with The Center for Advanced Studies of Eurac Research and NGO ECPAT International, we co-organized on March 27th the first international forum on child protection and sustainable tourism, at the Pontifical Gregorian University, in Rome.
As the tourism industry continues to expand, a global, shared, and sustainable approach, in conjunction with active stakeholder involvement, becomes increasingly essential to ensure protection from abuse of children and vulnerable adults.
“We are alerted to the necessity to work together, to collaborate and to find out what we can do when we notice something dangerous for people at risk so that we know how to act, whom to call and what to do”, says our director, Father Hans Zollner
Harald Pechlaner, founding chair of the School of Transformation and Sustainability at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (Germany), emphasizes the need for greater integration in the tourism sector, as it is “fragile” in certain aspects.
"Tourism comprises many voices, not just one. This is why discussions around safeguarding can foster integration—not only to protect those involved but also to help stabilize the entire tourism system," he explains.
