Herocast: Championing Nonviolent Education in Egypt

In our new episode of Herocast, we talk with Dr. Shereen Louise, an Egyptian educational psychologist, who has years of experience in child psychology and parenting coaching

As a social worker, she saw firsthand how punitive discipline and fear-driven education were normalized in schools. Determined to make a difference, she created a platform to teach parents and educators nonviolent methods, ensuring children grow up safe, loved, and understood: ErftAraby.

The podcast HeroCast likens Shereen to the Marvel character Scarlet Scarab, an Egyptian heroine who overcomes trauma and adversity to protect others. Like Scarlet Scarab, Shin has faced societal challenges and cultural norms that make change difficult, but she channels her experience and compassion into creating safer, nurturing environments for children.

What makes her work remarkable is its intercultural reach. Though supported by the Coptic Catholic Church, her programs are embraced by families of all faiths, showing that parenting challenges are more cultural than religious. Shereen trains teachers and social workers, promotes child protection policies, and advocates for safe, structured environments where children can thrive without fear.

In a society where crowded schools and daily pressures make nurturing difficult, Shereen Louise’s dedication shines as a heroic example of compassion and change. Her work proves that every child deserves a safe space to grow—and every adult can learn to provide it.
