CCP Partners: Successful Completion of Online Child Protection Course in Kenya

Last Friday, 13th October, the entire staff at Edmund Rice Sinon Secondary School joined three teachers to celebrate their achievement in completing the online child protection course offered by Christian Brothers, in partnership with the Centre for Child Protection at the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome. Br. Tony Shanahan, District Leader and representing the Child Protection Coordinator, Br. Amandi Mboya, presented certificates to the three teachers, Theresia Michael, Jean-Louis Kalulu and Br. Gustavo Mahangwe. The course took just over a year and was quite demanding, even though it was pat-time. One of the teachers said, “It was so demanding in such a way that I was not sure whether my name would appear on the list of those who have completed successfully”. Another said, “It was time consuming but educative on child protection affairs. I wish all staff could take the course”. Another staff member completed a substantial portion of the course, even though he didn’t finish, and a former staff member also completed successfully, so five people in Arusha have benefited. Br. Tony concluded the function by inviting more teachers to enrol in the next course. He insisted that the course was available to anybody who wished to know more about child protection and contribute towards keeping our children safe.
