Foundation of the Centre for Child Protection

The Centre for Child Protection (CCP) was established by the Pontifical Gregorian University, the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising, and the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the State University Clinic of Ulm. The inaugural event was a symposium entitled “Towards Healing and Renewal”. During its pilot phase from 2012 to 2014, the Centre was based in Munich.

Relocation from Munich to Rome

Though initially located in Germany, the Centre was part of the Pontifical Gregorian University from its beginnings. The CCP was officially launched in Rome in February 2015 with an event called «Un impegno rinnovato. Il Centre for Child Protection tre anni dopo il Simposio “Verso la Guarigione e il Rinnovamento”» (Renewed Commitment. The Centre for Child Protection Three Years After the Symposium “Towards Healing and Renewal”).

Transformation into the Institute of Anthropology

On 1 September 2021, following the approval of the Vatican’s former Congregation for Catholic Education, the Centre for Child Protection became the Institute of Anthropology: Interdisciplinary Studies on Human Dignity and Care (IADC).
